I can't believe I leave tomorrow! The Lord has completely blown me away with his provision. For those of you who don't know the very next day after I wrote my blog about waiting for the Lord to get glory in my finances for this trip, all of my funds came in. I went to bed after finishing my post and woke up the next day to texts, phone calls, and facebook messages from people who love the Lord and wanted to help me fulfill his call on my life! It was pretty amazing and so humbling. Laying it all down at his feet, you don't do it for yourself, but its amazing how as you do he completely blesses you. I can't even begin to understand the love of the Father, but I'm so excited to get a spend the rest of my life learning and basking in it. This life is his and I hope this summer I get to help expand and grow the kingdom where ever he leads me.
Now for an update on the other things regarding my trip. We had our commissioning dinner last night. It was such a blessing to have fellowship with a group of people who love the Lord and have a heart for his people. They prayed over us and it was just a really sweet time of celebrating all that he has done and will do in Uganda. The other two girls going with me are Natalee Dukes and Kelsey Harris. They are beautiful girls who love the Lord and have a heart to see his name made famous. I can't wait to get to know them this summer as the Lord brings us together in a very special way. They will be who I do life with for two months. When I wake up and when I go to sleep, they will be there. When I forget to take my Malaria medicine, they will be there to remind me. When I miss home, they will be there to help comfort me. When I just need to smile, they will be there to laugh with me. They are just a much a part of this as I am so I'm asking for your prayers for them as well. We are all entering a journey together and need prayers for unity and love. If we are going to be most affective this summer we need to be working as a team, so pray against the enemy's work, and pray for the Lord's.
We fly out tomorrow from the Atlanta airport at 3:10 and will be landing in Amsterdam where we will then take a connecting flight to Entebbe, Uganda. Please pray for safe travels and that we can get some rest as we have a long few days ahead of us. We will then head to our home for the next two and a half months, the compound! The compound consists of 3 apartment like homes and we will be staying in one of these. The other two are homes to more long term missionaries. It's nice to know we will have some people who are familiar with our culture and Uganda's to help us adapt to this new lifestyle. It is also comforting to know that even though it isn't always consistent, we will have running water, electricity, and internet! I feel kind of spoiled that we will get to have all of these luxuries when we are surrounded by such immense poverty so I pray the Lord will use them to help us minister more affectively.
The last thing I want to ask for is that you would be in prayer for our families. I can't imagine how hard it is to let your child go to a different country without you for such a long time, so pray for peace of mind and assurance from the Lord that we are exactly where he has called us. I can't wait to officially begin this journey with you guys! I will be writing weekly updates (hopefully more, but we will see) so check my blog to see what's going on. It is because of your prayer, finances, and effort that I will be boarding a plane tomorrow so I am so grateful to my friends and family for that, and may the Lord receive all of the glory for your actions.
P.S. If you are wondering why you haven't received a thank you note yet, don't worry my Mother raised me right. I have a little surprise for you guys that is going to take a little more time, but trust me it is worth the wait! :)
